"Figure Sketch #1"

These groups of figures are the first that I've completed this year and
are done in more of a sketch like approach. Although I thoroughly enjoy
more rendered figure paintings, I love the fresh color, and sketchy quality
which almost simplifies one of the most complex subjects in art. I also tried
to keep my colors as lively as possible without creating "rainbow" people. The white
gesso from the masonite showing through parts of the painting also help to provoke the
play on light; that would hopefully in the end, leave the viewing feeling like they had
just taken a breath of fresh air.
